who are we?
Phyllisile Community services is a majority African women owned non-profit organization (of professional educators and health specialists), with a passion to develop and nurture the skills and talents of young people, as well as adults, who are disadvantaged.
We therefore focus our assistance on those living in poverty stricken homes in and around KZN by providing them with quality education and life coaching, with the aim of growing them into responsible citizens. The main objective is to provide as much assistance as possible towards the growth of their abilities on their journey to reaching their full potential as responsible citizens that are able to live and sustain themselves for the benefit of their communities, and more importantly themselves.
We believe that our efforts also contribute towards the achievement of one of South Africa's key objectives, that being winning the war against poverty and unemplyment. This initiative is inspired by the recognition of the fact that +-60% of young men & women grow up without a strong father/mother figure or mentor according to a number of studies. The absence of a mentor can have a significant impact on a child's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development and wellbeing. There are a number of schemes such as child's centres and welfare centre's, as well as the child support grant for example, that already aim to provide assistance to this category of citizens, however it is evident that many impoverished and unled households still exist, thus bringing to light that much assistance is still to be desired in many areas. We aim therefore to assist in bridging this gap in our society to as many areas within our reach as possible.
